This 1753 binding has even less in the way of recognizable tools, however we are in luck because this binding has one of Dubuisson's tickets inside and therefore has been attributed to him, as shown in the Royal Library notation...

What we can see is that at this period in time there was a huge rush into colored tin foil as the next vogue in bookbinding decoration. The covers have been transformed into a sparkling jewel like spectacle. Not without some risk it seems these tinfoil adorned bindings are often found in tatters.

1753 Dubuisson palette

While there are none of Dubuisson's usual imprints on the boards that will help us to identify this work as his, the spine has been decorated with an unmistakable Dubuisson palette. Click here to see another 1753 Almanach Royal with this identical palette and spine compartment decoration as well as a large Dubuisson ticket.

A word of Caution

Even experts are sometimes wrong, before you spend thousands on a book, please do your own research! Just because I say a certain binding can be attributed to le Maitre isn't any kind of guarantee, don't take my word for it, go a step further and get your own proof. In these pages I have provided you with a way of doing just that.
